2 November - Beyond Palestine Creek

Walk Coordinators: Ian Bovill and Ulrike Groiss
Grade: Easy/Moderate
Distance: 12 km
Day event
Meet: Update: those wishing to pool cars should meet in the carpark behind Pambula shops at 9:00am, We will then drive down to Eden in fewer cars. If your car is a bit lower, you might wish to take advantage of this. Otherwise 9:30 AM at western side of Princes Highway at the northern entrance to Eden, where the highway crosses Palestine Creek.

Description: Forestry tracks and some light open bush. Some long, but not very steep hills. We'll do a loop in the forest between Eden and Nethercote, looking for lovely creek gullies, a variety of forest and views out to the coast. Sturdy shoes, possibly long pants/shirt sleeves.

22 October to 28 October - Grampians

Walk Coordinator: Robert Lewin
Grade: See Description
Distance: Many km
Car Camping
Meet: meeting place to be arranged amongst participants

Description: Grade: Various, depending on who comes.  Mostly car camping and day walks, but there may be some overnight walking. We could be camping (I will be) at a shearing shed on my brother Bill's farm at Shepparton on the way there.
Those interested should contact Robert at least a week beforehand to get further details.

Thanks for the pics Di and Eric!

5 October - Terrace Beach and Lennard's Head

Walk Coordinators: Jan Porter and Neil Porter

Grade:  Easy/Moderate

Distance: 10.5 - 12.5 km

Day event

Meet: 9:30 AM at behind the water tank opposite the Eden Waste Facility on the
Princes Highway approximately 11 km south of the turnoff to Wyndham.

Or, meet at 9:00 in the parking area behind the shops in Pambula if preferred.

NB - don't forget that daylight saving starts today!

Description: After a reccie last week, the plan is clear: the walk will be "easy/moderate" walking NP road to Lennards Island, then across the headland (not along the rock shelf) to Terrace Beach for lunch.  Then back to the cars along NP road.  The section from Lennards to Terrace is off-track, thus the "moderate" descriptor.  It is not hard walking, but is off track - gaiters may be helpful.  Anyone not wishing to do that can walk an alternative, but longer, route on roads.

Bring your swimmers.

28 September - Battery track, Gulaga (Mt. Dromedary)

Please note that this is a change to the printed program!
Walk Coordinator: Mark Edwards
Grade: Moderate
Distance: 12 km Day event
Meet: 9:00 AM at ABC Cheese Factory Central Tilba
Description: Meet at ABC cheese factory carpark at Central Tilba where we will car pool and drive to the old water treatment site on the Dromedary trail. From there we will walk up to the saddle and down to the old Battery track which is a bit overgrown, and along to the site of the old mine controller’s house and battery. Some of the old foundation stones can still be seen. Then back up to the saddle and if people are feeling fit we can walk up to the summit or just return by the way we came. A look at the old Narooma dam is worth a stop on the way home if we have time and energy to spare.
Thanks to Di's brother Ian for the photos.
